Yunnan relocates thousands after monsoon-triggered floods

As of noon Monday, over 3,900 residents from 1,156 households in Nujiang Lisu autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province, had been relocated after rainstorms hit the region, local authorities said.
Starting from May 24, continuous rainfall and rainstorms triggered by monsoon airflow struck the prefecture, damaging roads, houses, and crops. No casualties have been reported.
The authorities said the disaster had affected 10,650 residents from 3,084 households as of noon Monday.
In the severely affected Gongshan Derung and Nu autonomous county, 19 temporary shelters have been set up to accommodate 1,513 residents. Additionally, 350 quilts and 330 mattresses have been distributed to the affected residents.
In the county's Dulongjiang township, six teams of Party members were deployed in advance to potential hazard sites. They have relocated 795 residents to safety and distributed to them daily necessities, including quilts, cooking oil, and rice, the authorities said.
