Inter-Korean relations will not change: senior DPRK official

PYONGYANG - A senior official of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said Tuesday inter-Korean relations will not change, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
Kim Yo-jong, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, noted that the Republic of Korea (ROK) Ministry of Unification's comment on her statement on Tuesday that there exists room for "communication" and "detente" has gone "wrong in their expectation."
As far as "Seoul's various hope-filled wild dreams called 'repair of DPRK-ROK relations' are concerned," they can never all come true, said Kim.
Kim noted that the ROK has recently "committed a grave provocation by infringing upon the sovereignty of the DPRK." The Seoul authorities should "admit and apologize" for having violated the DPRK's sovereignty and take a measure to prevent recurrence, she said.
A spokesperson for the General Staff of the Korean People's Army said in a statement released on Friday that ROK had again sent drones into the DPRK's airspace at the beginning of the new year, following a drone intrusion over Pyongyang in October 2024.
In an earlier press statement carried by KCNA, Kim urged South Korea on Saturday to make a "detailed explanation" about a drone that entered DPRK airspace from the ROK.
