China reports 5% GDP growth in 2025

China's gross domestic product expanded by 5 percent to reach 140.19 trillion yuan ($20.13 trillion) in 2025, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Monday.

China's value-added industrial output, an important economic indicator, expanded 5.9 percent year-on-year in 2025. In December alone, China's industrial output increased by 5.2 percent year-on-year, the NBS said.

China's retail sales of consumer goods, a major indicator of the country's consumption strength, climbed 3.7 percent year-on-year in 2025. In December alone, the retail sales of consumer goods rose 0.9 percent year-on-year.

China's per capita disposable income went up 5 percent year-on-year in nominal terms in 2025, data from the NBS showed. The country's per capita disposable income stood at 43,377 yuan last year, the NBS said.
