A temporary software glitch briefly allowing some iPhone and iPad users in China to download and activate Apple Intelligence, Apple's on-device AI suite that has not yet officially launched in the country, has been resolved, Apple confirmed on Tuesday.
In a statement provided to China Daily on Tuesday, Apple said the bug momentarily enabled access to AI models normally available only in other regions. The company emphasized that the problem was identified and swiftly fixed.
Apple Intelligence remains unavailable in China pending regulatory approval. Apple said China has a regulatory process around AI models and Apple is engaged in the process.
The company added that it looks forward to introducing Apple Intelligence to customers in China once the necessary clearances are obtained.
