It is believed that the people of Wenzhou, a coastal city in Zhejiang province, began growing camellias as early as the Sui (581-618) and Tang (618-907) dynasties. They are now Wenzhou's city flower.

Red and pink camellias "bloom" on a newly issued stamp by China Post to mark the opening of the 15th China International Garden Expo on Wednesday in Wenzhou. The stamp also features verdant trees and Ougan mandarins, together with the event's core garden landscapes and promotional emblems. The use of camellia-scented ink allows buyers to breathe in the flower's soothing aroma.

The first-day cover with this stamp also features Wenzhou's metropolitan vibe and skyline, showing landmark structures rendered with concise geometric blocks in a bright palette.

The stamp and first-day cover embody the yin and yang philosophy, which fosters a harmonious dialogue between humans and nature.
