MACAU Pass unveils AI payment tool for merchants, developers

By Zhang Chenxu | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2026-04-24 21:07

MACAU Pass, a Macao-based fintech platform, has launched its self-developed AI-powered payment integration tool, the AI Payment Assistant, making it available to local merchants, developers and ecosystem partners.

The tool enables users to complete payment integration through natural-language prompts, reducing the need for manual coding and technical coordination, according to the company.

Developers can, for instance, ask the system to build an application with ordering and payment functions, after which the tool will automatically generate the relevant code and integration logic.

The company said the new tool is designed to lower technical barriers, shorten development cycles and help more merchants accelerate digital transformation.

Meanwhile, the AI Payment Assistant supports major local payment methods, including Simple Pay, MPay, Alipay and WeChat Pay, and is compatible with multiple cross-border e-wallets.

The tool will help meet Macao's diverse payment needs as an international tourism hub and an important city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the company said.

Zhao Hao, chief technology officer of MACAU Pass, said payments are becoming part of the core infrastructure for business operations and innovation.

"Through AI technology, MACAU Pass aims to lower the barriers to innovation for merchants and developers, enabling more applications to move from idea to deployment more quickly," Zhao said.

Looking ahead, the company said it will continue to explore the integration of AI, payments and local lifestyle services to support digital commerce and Macao's smart-city development.
