HK, Macao bakers invited to global contest qualifier

The Golden Statue Cup China Selection, a regional qualifier for the International Union of Bakers and Confectioners Cup of Bakers 2027, is now open for registration to top bakers and vocational school students from the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, organizers said.
The competition is guided by the China Association of Bakery and Confectionery Industry and the winner of the professional category will advance to the China Final and compete for the sole place to represent China at the World Final in Munich, Germany.
The International Union of Bakers and Confectioners Cup of Bakers is regarded as a major international competition for baking professionals, according to the organizers.
The Hong Kong and Macao selection includes a Professional Division and a Student Category, targeting experienced baking professionals and students from baking-related institutions.
Professional contestants will be assessed through tasks including baguettes, creative bread, Viennese products, canapes, laminated Danish pastries and bread made with Lam Soon highland barley premix, the organizers said.
The Student Category is designed to encourage young talent to improve their skills through competition, according to the organizers.
Organizers said the event aims to identify skilled baking talent in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, promote exchanges with international peers and support training for young baking professionals.
