Since its establishment in 2006, Gelita Liaoyuan Gelatine in Liaoyuan, Jilin province, has grown from a single gelatin production line into the largest gelatin production base globally for the German Gelita AG, one of the leading experts in gelatin and collagen peptides.

It has developed into a leading industry enterprise by integrating the research and production of gelatin for pharmaceutical use, food, and functional collagen peptides.

The company employs fully automated production equipment, according to Wang Tianming, director of the Gelita (Liaoyuan) plant. It has streamlined its production to focus on pharmaceutical excipients and food processing.

Liaoyuan's regional advantages and business environment enticed the company, leading to a relocation. "The local government provides ample support for basic production elements such as water, electricity, and gas," said Wang. "They not only optimized supply quality and offered price discounts but also solved various approval and construction challenges before project launch."

"After production started, they continued to provide full-cycle tracking services, removing obstacles for the company's development," he said.

Located on the golden industrial belt, Liaoyuan is recognized within the industry as a high-quality area for bone gelatin production. It is a natural home for Gelita (Liaoyuan).

With its latest production line, the company now has an annual capacity of 11,000 tons, which, according to project manager Li Hongying, makes it the leading gelatin production base in China and one of the largest in the world.

And the world is buying in. "The company's export share has been steadily increasing in recent years, with exports expected to account for 30 percent of total production in 2026," said Wang.
