Four people have died and five remain missing as of 3 pm Tuesday after heavy rains struck Guiding county in southwestern China's Guizhou province, Xinhua News Agency reported.
From Monday to Tuesday, torrential rains swept through the county, triggering floods and landslides that submerged homes, damaged roads, and cut off communication networks.
In response, local authorities immediately launched emergency operations. Police, firefighters, health workers, and communication teams were dispatched to the hardest-hit areas to conduct search and rescue, evacuate residents, provide medical aid, clear roads, and restore disrupted networks.
The Guizhou provincial government has deployed a task force to coordinate relief efforts. Emergency rescue missions remain underway.
