Italian braking technology company Brembo is deepening its push into China's fast-evolving intelligent vehicle sector through a new partnership with Ningbo Huaxiang Electronic Co aimed at localizing its next-generation brake-by-wire platform, Sensify.
The two companies announced on Friday that they had signed joint venture agreements to cooperate on the industrialization and commercialization of Sensify in China, as automakers accelerate the shift toward software-defined vehicles and intelligent chassis architectures.
The move marks another step in Brembo's strategy to expand beyond traditional braking systems into integrated software-driven mobility technologies.
Sensify is Brembo's intelligent braking platform built around a fluid-free by-wire architecture.
Unlike conventional electromechanical braking systems, the platform combines next-generation hardware with adaptable software layers designed to integrate directly into software-defined vehicle platforms.
Brembo said the system enables automakers to deploy advanced braking functions across multiple vehicle architectures while improving scalability and lifecycle performance.
"China is the world's most dynamic and innovative automotive market," said Daniele Schillaci, chief executive of Brembo.
He said the partnership would help the Italian company deepen its integration into China's automotive supply chain while accelerating localization of its intelligent braking technologies.
"Together, we will bring Chinese consumers a safer, smarter and more enjoyable driving experience," Schillaci said, adding that the cooperation aligns with Brembo's long-term vision of "shaping a zero-accident future".
For NBHX, the partnership represents an opportunity to strengthen its position in China's growing intelligent chassis supply chain.
"The rapid development of advanced autonomous driving and intelligent chassis technologies is bringing unprecedented opportunities to the industry chain," said Zhou Xiaofeng, chairman of NBHX.
He said the cooperation would combine Brembo's expertise in braking technology with NBHX's strengths in precision manufacturing and customer insight to support technology upgrades in China's intelligent vehicle market.
China has emerged as one of the world's most competitive testing grounds for software-defined vehicles, with domestic automakers increasingly integrating advanced driver assistance systems, centralized computing architectures and AI-enabled vehicle controls into mass-market products.
Against that backdrop, braking systems are also evolving from standalone hardware components into software-centric vehicle control systems closely linked with autonomous driving and chassis management technologies.
The partnership reflects a broader trend among global automotive suppliers seeking local partnerships in China to accelerate development cycles and improve access to domestic automakers.
Founded in 1961 and headquartered in Bergamo, Italy, Brembo is one of the world's best-known performance braking brands and has long been associated with top-tier motorsport.
The company has increasingly expanded into software-enabled mobility technologies in recent years as the automotive industry transitions toward electrification and intelligent driving.
NBHX, meanwhile, is one of China's major automotive component suppliers, with operations spanning automotive electronics, interior and exterior trim systems, and metal components.
