Salt-tolerant wheat sets record on saline-alkali land in Shandong

Experts conduct a yield measurement of the salt-tolerant wheat variety Jimai 60 on moderately saline-alkali land in the Yellow River Delta in Dongying, Shandong province. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]

The harvest took place on a field in Beichang village of Dongying, Shandong province, part of the Agricultural High-tech Industry Demonstration Area. The soil in the trial field has an average salinity of 0.303 percent, giving it a classification of moderately saline-alkali land.
