The central wastewater treatment plant in Ulan Bator — a major China–Mongolia cooperation project constructed by Chinese enterprises with Chinese standards and Chinese technologies — was officially put into operation on Monday.
At the commissioning ceremony on Monday, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China has always supported Mongolia in the development of its economy and improving the livelihoods of its people.
Since the 1950s, Chinese workers have assisted Mongolia in the construction of more than 850 projects in the country, according to Wang.
Bilateral cooperation has been expanded in the new century, from cross-border highway construction to port clearance, from shantytowns transformation to urban infrastructure, and from healthcare and education to desertification control.
Guided by an approach focusing on people’s livelihoods, this cooperation has continuously delivered tangible benefits to the Mongolian people, Wang said.
He noted that China–Mongolia relations have become a model of good-neighborliness, as well as shared development and prosperity among neighboring countries.
In accordance with the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness, and under the policy of fostering an amicable, secure, and prosperous neighborhood, China stands ready to work with Mongolia to carry forward their traditional friendship and open a new chapter of cooperation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Altankhuyag Uilstuguldur, chief of staff at the Mongolian president’s office, expressed gratitude for China’s support for Mongolia’s economic and social development, and wished for further progress in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Wang also met with Mongolian Prime Minister Nyam-Osor Uchral in Ulan Bator on Monday.
