The third "Tea for Harmony - Yaji Cultural Salon" was held at the Toronto Arts & Letters Club on May 16, offering local people immersive experiences in Chinese tea culture alongside classical Chinese dance performances, folk music and recitations.

The event was co-hosted by the Chinese Consulate General in Toronto and the China National Tourist Office in Toronto, and organized by the Cultural and Arts Center of Guofeng Pavilion. Attendees included local officials, diplomats and representatives from various sectors.

In his remarks, Luo Weidong, China's consul general in Toronto, said that Chinese tea, intertwined with diverse cultures, serves as an important medium for exchange and mutual learning between Chinese civilization and civilizations around the world. As China-Canada exchanges embrace new opportunities in recent years, he said that this cultural salon, with tea serving as a bridge of friendship, will inject fresh vitality into people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

Wu Ning, head of the China tourist office in Toronto, said this year's event combined tea culture demonstrations with artistic performances, allowing guests to experience the charm of Chinese culture in an elegant and relaxing setting. She highlighted China's visa-free policy for Canadian citizens and expressed hope that more Canadians will visit China to explore its rich culture and tourism resources firsthand.

In addition to the cultural salon, organizers also set up a "Tea for Harmony" sub-venue at the Tea and Gourmet Festival in Sankofa Square from May 16 to 17, showcasing Chinese tea culture alongside a "Nihao! China" tourism display.

In 2022, UNESCO inscribed "traditional tea processing techniques and associated social practices in China" on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In celebration of International Tea Day on May 21, China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism has organized "Tea for Harmony - Yaji Cultural Salon" events in countries around the world since 2023.
