Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will pay an official visit to China from Wednesday to Friday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun announced on Monday.
China is the second stop on Rahman's first overseas trip since taking office in February, following his visit to Malaysia.
During his visit, the two sides will engage in in-depth exchanges of views on bilateral relations, international and regional issues of mutual interest and provide guidance for the future development of China-Bangladesh relations, Guo said.
Rahman will also attend the 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the Summer Davos Forum, in Dalian.
Guo said China hopes to take the visit as an opportunity to work with Bangladesh's new government to strengthen strategic communication, carry forward their traditional friendship, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and expand exchanges and cooperation across various fields.
The two sides are also expected to strengthen coordination in multilateral affairs and to elevate their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new level, he added.
