He Zhiliang, deputy head of the Society Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, is being investigated for suspected severe violations of Party disciplines and national laws, China's top anti-corruption watchdogs announced on Saturday.
The announcement was disclosed online by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision. No further details were released.
Public information shows that He, 55, a native of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, began his career in July 1995 and joined the Party in June 1996. He worked for his hometown for decades. In late 2019, he took office as mayor of Jilin city in Jilin province, and went on to become deputy governor of the province in January 2023.
At the beginning of 2025, he started working for the Society Work Department of CPC Central Committee, a major Party division primarily for guiding petition work, collecting public suggestions, and advancing Party-building-led grassroots governance.
It also coordinates efforts to deepen reform and promote the transformation and development of industry associations and commercial chambers, and provides guidance on Party-building work in mixed-ownership enterprises, non-public companies, new economic organizations, new social organizations, and among emerging employment groups.
