Chinese Academy of Engineering honors intl members

The Chinese Academy of Engineering held an induction ceremony for its international members on Thursday during the plenary session of the 18th general assembly in Beijing, presenting member plaques to 21 recently elected foreign scholars.

Zhang Yuzhuo, CAE Party secretary, said that their election recognizes both their distinguished achievements in engineering science and technology and their long-standing cooperation with China.

Zhang expressed hope that international members would continue to provide academic leadership, advance engineering innovation, offer strategic advice for China’s engineering development, and serve as a bridge connecting China with the global frontier of engineering research. He called on them to work together to deliver engineering solutions to the major challenges facing humanity.

Following the ceremony, the academy held the 2026 China Engineering Science and Technology Forum, where CAE members and international members delivered reports on cutting-edge topics including intelligent wearables, high-performance manufacturing, energy storage, low-carbon and sustainable development, and new paradigms for engineering science.

CAE international members are elected biennially. The academy now has 145 international members from 23 countries.
