During the Friday evening meeting, the ministry stressed that its work team and geological experts must fully cooperate with local governments in conducting science-based rescue operations, preventing secondary disasters and ensuring the safety of all on-site personnel.
The ministry called for leveraging satellite remote sensing, unmanned aerial vehicles and real-time monitoring to enhance general readiness, emergency surveying and risk analysis.
In response to the Chongqing landslide, natural resources departments across China have been instructed to enhance routine inspections of potential geological hazards, improve monitoring and early warning systems, and promptly evacuate threatened populations to safeguard lives, the ministry said.
