The forum on the Preservation and Transmission of Cultural Heritage in the Digital Intelligence Era was held on Wednesday in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, during the 2026 World Internet Conference Digital Silk Road Development Forum.

The event brought together industry insiders to exchange insights on how digital technologies are transforming the protection and dissemination of cultural heritage.

From AI-powered restoration and digital archiving to immersive cultural experiences, participants explored innovative approaches to preserving historical treasures, enhancing public engagement and promoting cross-cultural exchanges.

Their discussions highlighted the growing role of digital innovation in safeguarding cultural heritage, while underscoring the importance of making it more accessible and relevant for future generations.

The 2026 WIC Digital Silk Road Development Forum is taking place in Xi'an from July 21 to 22.
