Evening cultural performances have turned Beidaihe, a popular coastal resort in Qinhuangdao, Hebei province, into a lively destination this summer, drawing growing crowds of visitors to its streets.
The Shitang In Lane, a century-old pedestrian street, now features rotating shows of Sichuan opera face-changing and traditional folk lion dances, while Russian musicians perform classic songs from European-style balconies along the block, a combination that has become a signature draw.
Yang Rufeng, head of the Shitang Road Block under Beidaihe Urban Development Group, said it has integrated the street's historical elements with modern vibes. The foot traffic this summer is up 20 percent year-on-year.
"The weather here is pleasantly cool at night, and there are entertainment activities everywhere. We're having a great time," said Shi Qian, a tourist from Guizhou province.
Local authorities said they are expanding nighttime tourism products and enhancing Sino-Russian cultural exchange programs as part of broader efforts to position Beidaihe as a year-round international coastal tourism hub.
