Former vice-chairman of securities regulator placed under investigation

Fang Xinghai, former vice-chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, is under investigation for suspected serious violations of Party discipline and the law, China's top anti-graft authorities said on Friday.
Fang is also a former member of the commission's Party committee, according to a statement by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision.
Fang served as a CSRC vice-chairman from 2015 until 2024. The CSRC is China's top securities regulator, responsible for overseeing the country's market of securities and futures.
