Eight APEC artists begin week-long Guangdong field study

Eight international illustrators and cartoonists from APEC economies, including Russia, Japan, Singapore, and Indonesia, began a week-long field study on Monday in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, aiming to produce artwork that will serve as a cultural curtain-raiser for November's APEC summit in Shenzhen.

The five-day program takes the artists through Guangzhou, Shaoguan, Shenzhen, and Dongguan, running until Friday.

The itinerary spans Guangdong's urban landmarks, ecological sites, and industrial clusters. Highlights include the Danxiashan UNESCO Global Geopark in Shaoguan, Shenzhen's Robot Valley, and Dongguan's Songshan Lake Science City and Shipai trendy toy industrial cluster.

Victoria Tsensura, a Russian animation and character design artist, said she was eager to see the province's traditional Hakka architecture, Dongshen Water Supply Project, and cutting-edge robotics achievements. She said she had already formed preliminary creative concepts based on the trip.

The event is jointly organized by the information office of Guangdong provincial government and China Daily, and co-managed with IP Guangdong, a comprehensive image branding platform for Guangdong.
