The historic Sinan Mansions district welcomed 3.2 million visitors in the past year, a nearly 40 percent year-on-year increase, reflecting deepening integration of culture, commerce and tourism, according to the 11th plenary meeting of the Cultural Sinan regional alliance held at the Sinan Book Club in Shanghai on July 23.
Key events drove the foot traffic surge. The Natural Life Festival series attracted over 530,000 visitors and generated about 8.5 million yuan in district retail revenue. A five-day market during the Shanghai International Flower Show recorded more than 150,000 visitors, while an immersive French opera Romeo and Juliet sold out all 200 tickets in under 10 minutes and the Ficciones Literary Exhibition saw nearly 70,000 visits in one month.
