Fiji is offering Chinese travelers more personalized ways to experience its islands, with the launch of four Chinese-language travel guides targeting families, couples, solo travelers and groups.

Released by Tourism Fiji on Aug 7, the guides feature tailored recommendations on accommodation, activities and itineraries, making it easier for visitors to plan trips that go beyond traditional sightseeing.

The initiative reflects the changing expectations of Chinese outbound travelers. Rather than simply asking where to go, more tourists are considering how they want to experience a destination — whether through family bonding, romantic escapes, cultural exploration or shared adventures with friends and colleagues.

For families, travel has become an opportunity to strengthen relationships and create lasting memories. Couples are seeking more intimate and meaningful experiences, younger travelers are looking for authentic cultural encounters, while group visitors want flexible itineraries that cater to different interests.

"Chinese travelers' needs are constantly changing," says Vincent Zheng, global general manager for Asia and Chinese markets at Tourism Fiji. "More and more consumers choose destinations based on their life stage, travel companions and travel purposes, rather than simply the destination itself."

Through the four guides, Tourism Fiji hopes to help every type of traveler discover experiences that best match their interests, Zheng says.

For families, Fiji's combination of natural landscapes, safe environment and local cultural experiences offers opportunities for both relaxation and exploration. The family guide highlights resorts with children's clubs, family suites and kid-friendly facilities, as well as activities such as village visits, traditional cooking experiences and marine adventures.

For couples and honeymooners, Fiji's private beaches, boutique resorts and adults-only accommodations provide settings for romantic escapes. Experiences such as sunset cruises, beachfront dinners, private sandbank picnics and couples' spa treatments are highlighted as ways to create memorable moments.

Solo travelers, an increasingly important market segment, can choose between the lively Mamanuca and Yasawa islands, where it's easy to meet fellow travelers, or the quieter destinations of Savusavu and Taveuni, known for their forests, coastlines and peaceful atmosphere.

For group travelers, including friends, families, weddings and corporate incentive trips, Fiji offers options ranging from large resorts and private villas to exclusive island experiences. Activities such as diving, sailing, traditional kava ceremonies and local village visits allow groups to combine leisure with cultural immersion.

Travel has also become more convenient. Fiji offers visa-free entry for Chinese visitors, allowing stays of up to four months. Fiji Airways increased its Hong Kong-Nadi service from three flights per week to four from June.

The four guides are now available through Tourism Fiji's Chinese-language website.

As Chinese outbound tourism continues to diversify, Fiji hopes the new resources will encourage travelers to explore the islands in ways that reflect their own interests.
