Six officials and staff members have been disciplined over irregularities in a public recruitment process at a special education school in Leizhou, Guangdong province, after a vice-principal allegedly leaked a candidate's personal information and tried to persuade her to withdraw from the recruitment process.

A joint investigation team said on Friday that disciplinary and administrative actions had been taken against six people from local education authorities and the school. Formal criticism was also issued to the Leizhou Education Bureau and Leizhou Special Education School.

The case, involving recruitment for a high school dance teaching position, had drawn widespread attention on social media.

According to the investigation, a vice-principal surnamed Gao improperly disclosed the personal information of the top scorer in the written examination to a teacher surnamed Chen, who was seeking to help a relative gain an advantage in the recruitment.

Gao later contacted the candidate via WeChat and offered incentives in an attempt to persuade her to withdraw from subsequent assessments.

Gao has been suspended, while Chen has been temporarily relieved of duties. Recruitment for the position has also been suspended.
