Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday that 38 countries have become founding members of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization.
In a signed article published in the People's Daily, Wang said China has taken an active role in advancing global governance, including by putting forward the Global AI Governance Initiative and initiating the establishment of WAICO.
China has worked with other countries to build a fairer and more equitable global AI governance system and promote the development of artificial intelligence for good, with greater inclusiveness and benefits for all humanity, he said.
The agreement on the establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization was signed in Shanghai on July 16.
The Foreign Ministry said earlier that China will work with other founding members to get the organization up and running as soon as possible, strengthen international cooperation on AI, and ensure that the technology truly benefits humanity.
