The illustrated cultural relics are diverse in form: some are vivid and distinctive, such as the Warring States Period (475-221 BC) bronze lamp with a silver-headed human figure and the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) painted pottery wine vessel featuring three acrobats performing handstands. Others feature lifelike patterns, such as the Song Dynasty (960-1279) white-glazed pillow with a black-painted design of a boy playing with a ball. Together, they vividly present the distinctive characteristics and fascinating appeal of traditional acrobatic arts.
The second part, "inheritance and continuation", uses posters, historical and news photographs, videos, and other materials to trace the development of Wuqiao acrobatics since the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), while highlighting achievements in acrobatic exchanges between China and Romania.
Romania, like China, has a long tradition of acrobatics. The exhibition aims to use acrobatic art as a bridge to deepen exchanges between the two countries and open a new chapter in cultural exchanges and mutual learning as they jointly advance the Belt and Road Initiative. The exhibition will run until Sept 24.
