Photography reveals the extraordinary in the ordinary

The Paradox of Appearance — Wang Chuan Solo Exhibition opened at One Art Museum in Beijing on Aug 18, bringing together 124 photographic works and series by Chinese artist Wang Chuan. The exhibition will run through Oct 11, with its official opening ceremony on Aug 30.

Organized by One Art Museum, the exhibition invites Qu Jingdong, professor at Peking University, as its academic director, with He Guiyan, professor at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, serving as curator, and Cheng Chen as artistic director.

For more than three decades, Wang has remained rooted in the repetition and ordinariness of everyday life, seeking to uncover overlooked moments and subtle visual pleasures hidden within familiar urban scenes and daily routines.
