All fishing vessels working at sea in Guangdong province are required to return to harbor by 10 pm on Monday, as the remnant of Typhoon Saudel regains strength and becomes a tropical depression on Monday afternoon.

Workers on engineering facilities at sea in Guangdong are also required to evacuate, according to the provincial flood control, drought relief and typhoon response office.

Saudel, the 18th typhoon of the year, weakened gradually after making landfall twice in Zhejiang province in East China on Friday, and meteorological authorities stopped issuing advisories on it on Sunday.

However, the remnant of Saudel moved from Wanning, Hainan province, to the northwestern South China Sea and became a tropical depression again at 5 pm on Monday.

It is expected to move northeastward, gain strength and possibly become a typhoon again within 24 hours, according to a report issued by the central meteorological observatory at 6 pm on Monday.
