Art academy offers extensive mentoring opportunities

Since its establishment in Beijing 45 years ago, the China National Academy of Painting has been a hall of not only fame but also cultivation, where artists from different parts of the country could visit, view artworks, and learn under the mentorship of prominent painters such as Li Keran (1907-89), the founding director.

The institution's new 2026-2027 academic year has begun, with about 50 mentor studios open to artists from across the country to brush up on techniques in Chinese painting and calligraphy, seal engraving, and printmaking, among others.

Experts and scholars from other fields will be invited to give lectures, broadening students' vision and enhancing their cross-disciplinary sensibility.
