Innovative cork artworks highlight sustainability in Beijing

Their works use cork in a range of ways, including interactive installations, photographic lightboxes, sculpture, modular forms and spatial experiments. The projects explore themes such as food and memory, migration, home and collective living.

Paulo Americo Oliveira, president of APCOR, said the material's combination of natural properties and aesthetic potential has attracted growing interest.

"Designers, architects and artists are increasingly drawn to cork for the way it brings aesthetics and natural performance together," Oliveira said.

He said cork's texture, lightness, resilience and versatility allow artists to experiment with different forms, patterns, colors and sensory experiences.

"The works at the Future Arts Festival show how cork can unite artistic expression and sustainability," he said.
