SUVA - Fiji's Information Ministry announced Monday that Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has accepted an invitation to attend one of China's biggest investment and trade symposiums in Zhejiang province.

Prime Minister Bainimarama will leave for China on Wednesday to attend the 14th China Zhejiang Investment & Trade Symposium (ZJITS) and the China International Consumer Goods Fair (CICGF), the ministry said in a media release.

ZJITS and CICGF, organized by China's Ministry of Commerce and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, are comprehensive international economic and trading events held in Zhejiang annually, which attracts a lot of business entrepreneurs and visitors from around the globe.

According to the media release, Bainimarama is also expected to meet with potential investors who are interested in setting up businesses in Fiji, while attending the ZJITS and CICGF.

Local media held that the Bainimarama government has made strong ties with China as he believes the Chinese understand the reforms he is trying to implement better than Australia and New Zealand do.
