Non-resident Hong Kong customers deposited over 800 million yuan ($128 million) in accounts opened in the city as of the end of Sept, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority said in a release posted to its website Monday.
Lenders in the city started offering yuan personal banking services to non-Hong Kong residents in August this year.
Outstanding yuan-denominated loans increased to 67.9 billion yuan at end-Sept from 30.8 billion yuan at the end of last year, the HKMA said.
