HONG KONG - Hong Kong's Center for Food Safety said Tuesday that it has suspended the import of poultry, poultry products and eggs from parts of Denmark and the Netherlands.

The center received notification from the World Organization for Animal Health on Tuesday about outbreaks of low-pathogenic H7 avian influenza on a bird farm in Viborg municipality, Denmark, and a poultry farm in Utrecht province, the Netherlands.

Last year, Hong Kong imported about 2,300 tons of frozen poultry meat and 78,000 eggs from Denmark, and 17,000 tons of frozen poultry meat and 1.3 million eggs from the Netherlands.

The center said it had contacted authorities in Denmark and the Netherlands and will monitor the situation.
