A major port linking Hong Kong and Shenzhen city has been closed temporarily after a fire broke out in a customs building on Monday night, firefighters said.

There were no reports of casualties.

Local fire control authorities received a report at 8:50 pm stating that heavy smoke was belching from a customs office in the Luohu Port in Shenzhen, one firefighter told Xinhua.

The fire was put out at around 9:30 pm. An initial probe said the fire might have been ignited by an electrical wiring malfunction on the third floor.

The MTR, which runs the rails in Hong Kong, had in-formed passengers of the accident and advised them to change trains bound for Lok Ma Chau, another major port.

Railway officials said the frequency of trains was being increased to keep up with demand. The service to Lok Ma Chau was also ex-tended.

The Luohu customs is the most important port of in-spection for passengers throughout Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland.
