BEIJING - China and Thailand have agreed to establish a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, according to a joint statement issued amidst Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's official visit to China.

"Both sides conducted in-depth exchanges of views on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common concern in a cordial, constructive and productive atmosphere," the statement said, referring to talks Yingluck had with several Chinese officials during her visit.

President Hu Jintao, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Wu Bangguo, Premier Wen Jiabao and Vice President Xi Jinping all conferred with Yingluck.

The two sides reaffirmed their will to further develop their partnership and solidify cooperation, as well as expressed satisfaction with the state of bilateral relations, according to the document.

"The Thai side remains committed to the one-China policy and recognizes the government of the People's Republic of China as the sole legal government representing the whole of China and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory and supports the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations," the statement said.

Yingluck paid an official visit to China as the guest of Premier Wen from April 17 to 19.
