ZHENGZHOU - Thirteen people have been confirmed dead and another 12 injured after a coach collided with a truck Monday in central China's Henan province, local authorities announced Tuesday.
The head-on collision occurred at around 2:30 pm in Mengzhai township in Wuyang county, leaving three dead on the spot, said a spokesman with the county government.
Rescuers rushed 22 injured people to hospital, including 10 people who died after treatments failed, said the spokesman, adding that a survivor remains in a coma.
The spokesman said three children were aboard the coach, but he did not confirm their conditions.
He said the number of passengers on the coach was not immediately known.
The Ministry of Public Security will dispatch a work team to investigate the cause of the accident, according to the spokesman.
