No identification card when checking into a hotel? It's no problem at some hotels in Anhui province, which are trying a new way to check guests in – by scanning their faces.
Hotels in Maanshan city and Feixi county in the province started video check-ins, where guests were photographed and checked with information from the police, according to a China National Radio report. The whole procedure takes only 3 minutes.
In Maanshan city, more than 250 hotels out of 400 have been using the new scanning check-in since it was first used in the city in April. The local police have checked more than 2,000 pieces of guest information, according to their statistics.
Hotel staff in Feixi county said every day they receive guests who forget to bring ID cards with them and the new scanning check-in has been highly praised by the guests.
