BEIJING - A 4.4-magnitude earthquake jolted off Kaohsiung county, Taiwan at 6:31 pm Thursday Beijing Time, the China Earthquake Networks Center said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 6 km, was determined to be at 22.5 degrees north latitude and 120.3 degrees east longitude, the center said.
The US Geological Survey put the magnitude of the quake at 5.1.
