"I hope and believe that through this event, both sides can exchange views and ideas frankly and put forward the formation of new concepts, methods and institutions favorable to deepening bilateral cooperation," Wang said.

Wang said China and GCC states have unique advantages and their economies are complementary, which provides a good foundation for cooperation in fields like solar and wind power.

Wang also highlighted the ecological civilization in the forum, which was placed unprecedented importance on by Chinese President Hu Jintao on the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China concluded in November.

Wang reiterated China's efforts intentions to improve developing countries' capacity to protect the environment and provide financial support to help handle climate change.

"At present, sustainable development is no longer a national or regional issue but a common challenge faced by all human beings," Wang said.

Wang also spoke highly of GCC states' adherence to the concept of sustainable development.

Masdar City is a hub where current and future renewable energy and clean technologies are showcased, marketed, researched, developed, tested and implemented. After visiting the city, which is 17 km from downtown Abu Dhabi, Wang gave high praise to UEA's effort and ambition.

Wang encouraged more young Chinese scientific and technologic professionals to go work in Masdar City where she believes they will get great experience.

"I believe that through the sincere exchange at the forum, we are absolutely able to deepen mutual understanding and trust, so we can establish a solid foundation for sustainable development of bilateral friendly relations," Wang said.
