The PeninsulaShanghaiis hosting an exhibition of bronze sculptures and paintings by artists from North America. A major highlight will be the bronze sculptures by M.L. Snowden, a protege of French master sculptor Auguste Rodin. Snowden'sstyleand platinum toned patina give her sculptures a unique and indefinable energy.

Training oil painters

Art beat in October
Most Chinese oil painters receive their training from fine art academies. Entitled Artists from Academy, the first invitational exhibition of oil painting features works by more than 100 oil painters. All of the attending painters are professors and their students are from nine art academies across China. Works on display vary in terms of styles from surrealism to abstract expressionism. The show aims to offer a comprehensive view of China's art education of oil painters in the recent years. It will tour cities around China after its first stop in Shanghai.

A look at Seoul

K11 is presenting an exhibition of contemporary design from South Korea. Ticket to Seoul has brought together outstanding creations since the 1970s. The latest project will offer a glimpse of the trend, and showcase Korean pop culture in a special section. Eight young artists have contributed their impressions and memories of Seoul in the show.

Lifesize horse puppets

War Horse is an internationally successful theater production adapted from a novel by Michael Morpurgo. The lifesize horse puppets by Handspring Puppet Company from South Africa have been a major highlight. A large exhibition of the puppets and other props from the play is on display at Jing'an Kerry Center. A Chinese edition of the play will be staged in Shanghai next year.
