Mexican master's works
Almost three dozenpaintings by Diego Rivera are on display for the first time inBeijing. Theartist was well-known for his frescoes that helped establish the Mexican Mural Movement, and the 34 works in the exhibition show the evolution of his art in the past 52 years, from landscape paintings in 1904 to his portraits in 1956. The show also highlights some works painted during Rivera's trip to Europe, a time when the painter destroyed most of his creations.

Politics blooms in art
The Long Museum is showcasing artworks on political themes since the Yan'an Era, from 1933 to 2007, to celebrate 45 years of the founding of New China. Curated by Chen Lyusheng, vice-director of the National Museum of China, the show consists of three parts: prints from the 1930s, propaganda art during the "cultural revolution" (1966-76), and revolutionary art from other periods in modern China.
