Capital to break out in song in chorus week

The "Song of Beijing – 2014 Chorus Week of Capital Citizens" will be launched on Nov 30, and six major activities will take place in the following week, including competitions, charity shows, a chorus training workshop and an artistic forum.

Eighty chorus groups selected from nearly 1,000 participating groups from local communities will participate in the weeklong event, and the top 10 chorus groups will perform on the closing ceremony to be held in Forbidden City Concert Hall on Dec 4.

During the week, chorus groups will give charity shows at local schools for children of migrant workers, nursing homes, and public institutions.

The organizers of the activity include the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture, the Beijing Culture and Art Center, the Cultural Committee of Fangshan district, and the Chorus Association of Beijing.
