Located on the Yangtze River, the Three Gorges Dam is the world's largest hydropower project. Around 1.1 million people have been relocated since 1993 to make way for the huge dam.
A photographer who has traced some of the migrants for 20 years has produced the following photos.

Seven-year-old migrant Liu Wei carried a sleeping mat as he moved from Xiangjia village in Zigui county, Hubei province by ship on June 25, 1995. The village was among the first batch to be relocated for the dam. All of the 184 residents from the village moved to a suburb of Yichang city in the same province. [Photo by Li Feng/chinanews.com]
