To celebrate the Year of the Monkey, Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) will be releasing a new Zodiac Monkey stamp set which goes on sale on Jan 8 to usher in the Lunar New Year.

Comprising of three stamps, the set comes with colorful illustrations of the monkey as part of the Zodiac stamp series issued by SingPost which began in 2008, with past and future stamp sets depicting the 12 animal signs in the Chinese calendar: the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

According to Chinese astrology and belief, those born in the year of the Monkey are said to be curious, mischievous and clever. They are fun and loving people who are always cheerful and energetic, SingPost said.

The set of stamps comes in three denominations - 1st Local, S$0.70 and S$1.30. A pre-cancelled First Day Cover, cancelled with a special Zodiac Monkey postmark, will cost S$3.10 each affixed with the complete set of stamps.

The new Zodiac Monkey stamp set will be available at all post offices in Singapore, and the Singapore Philatelic Museum.
