12. Hen clam
The hen clam inhabits the shallow waters of the Yellow Sea. Both the shell and meat are yellow and the shell has dark yellow streaks. The marine area near Dandong has affluent nutrients, so the hen clams here are bigger, fatter, more delicious, and more nutritive than those in other areas.
The meat is rich in protein, sugar, inorganic salts, vitamins, Ca, P, Fe, Se and other trace elements that are essential to the human body. It has a desirable effect on the human hematopoiesis and restoring liver function. It has medicinal value and is helpful in relieving slight corneal opacity and treating acute conjunctivitis.
Hen clams are suitable for boiling or stir-frying, but the best cooking method is grilling and the most delicious part of the hen clam is not the meat but the juice.
