A keeper holds two Red Panda cubs at Taiyuan Zoo in north China's Shanxi province Wednesday, July 15, 2009. The newborns, abandoned by their mother at birth, are thriving under the loving care of an unlikely surrogate mother -- a dog. The Red Panda, also called the Firefox or Lesser Panda, is indigenous to the area around the Himalayan Mountains and southwestern China. There are fewer than 2,500 adult Red Pandas left, and their population continues to decline because of habitat fragmentation. [CFP]
