Shanxi Product Exhibition Center opened in Beijing on Nov 10 with an official inauguration ceremony. Yuan Tao, a former representative of the People’s Republic in Macao; Yang Chongchun, a former deputy director of the State Administration of Taxation; Wen Kegang, a former director of the China Meteorological Administration, and Sun Yuejin, the head of Shanxi's Commerce Department attended the inauguration ceremony.
The exhibition center was set up to promote the brand name of Shanxi products. It is an extension project for the "Shanxi Brand China Tour", which has brought Shanxi products on sales exhibition tours to six cities and has been well received by consumers from all over the country.
The exhibition center has nine pavilions, each for one special category of Shanxi local products including wines and liquors, mature vinegar, dried fruits, millet and grain, fungi, special snacks, Jilior silk, textiles, and handicrafts. Outside the pavilions, the center can set up more than 80 booths to hold large sales exhibitions. It also has a 2,000-square-meter commodity storage and transfer center.
According to an official in charge of the exhibition center, by four o'clock in the afternoon on its opening day the center set a sales record of 78,000 yuan ($12,800) and entered into negotiations on four cooperation projects for purchase of Shanxi products.
