A group of scientists got a close look at the murals in the Yongle Palace, in Yuncheng, Shanxi province, on Nov 14. to better understand their conditions.

This was the first time that recent technology and the Internet have been applied to a study of the murals in this "oriental gallery" to support preservation work. A renovation and fire-prevention project, which began on Nov 8, is the largest to be carried out since 1953.
