Attractions Along the River

Used to be a residential area for expatriates, the area absorbs various cultures and thus has a western style of architecture of which Tianjin Concert Hall has been the landmark of the area. Today Xiaobailou is a high-end business zone.

Jie Fang Bei Rd (the Financial St)

Located close to Haihe River between Jie Fang Bridge and Jie Fang Nan Rd, the Financial St used to be the major area for numerous foreign banks and was thus titled the “Wall St in the East”. Currently it still functions as a base of various financial institutions in Tianjin. The majority of the architecture on the street has a history of over a hundred years. Walking along the street people can feel the great development of China’s financial industry in modern history.

Da Guang Ming Bridge

The bridge’s design adopts a western classic style and signifies the theme of light. Statues on the four barbicans represent the sun, the moon, and the stars.

The Astor Hotel

Built in 1863, The Astor Hotel is the oldest hotel in Tianjin and the first large foreign invested hotel. In 1996, it became the only hotel in China that was titled the national key cultural relics protection unit.

Jinwan Plaza

Jiefang Bridge

Built in 1927, Jiefang Bridge used to be called Wanguo Bridge which means an international bridge. It is now the largest bridge that can be opened and closed and the oldest working bridge in Tianjin.

Jin Men and Jin Ta

Tianjin World Financial Center comprises of Jin Men and Jin Ta which include a super five-star hotel—St. Regis Hotel, and a 336.9 meters office building respectively. The hotel is a door-shape building, which sheds light on the name of Jin Men (Men stands for door in Chinese) and in the meantime represents Tianjin opening up for people from other places.

Dagu Bridge

As a feature bridge over Haihe River, Dagu Bridge was designed by eminent bridge designer and academician Deng Wenzhong. Two asymmetry arches hang over the bridge with the bigger one facing the east representing the rising sun while the smaller being the moon facing the west. Together they signify the bright future of Tianjin.

Golden Street

Golden Street is a place where people go for shopping, dining and leisure. Golden Street is 1.3 kilometers long and has become the longest commercial non-vehicle street in China in which the Quanyechang Building has been listed as the one of the national key cultural relics protection units.

Bei'an Street

First built in 1973, after reconstruction work, Bei'an Bridge has become a bridge that bears a mix of Chinese traditional and western architecture styles.

Its effective area is about 10,000 square meters, including 16 exhibition areas. Those areas include Tianjin history exhibition area, master planning exhibition area, transportation exhibition area, city center planning model exhibition area, temporary exhibition area, Tianjin Binhai New Area planning exhibition area, Haihe River planning exhibition area, renowned city exhibition area, tourism planning exhibition area, public facility exhibition area, Eco-city exhibition area, a theater, and a public interactive area.

Italian-Style Area

Located south of Hebei District, the now Italian-Style Area used to be the center of the Italian concession and thus has over a hundred year history. It is the largest and only Italian-style architecture cluster not only in China, but in the region of Southeast Asia. More than 30 residences of late public figures’ are located in the area. Such people include Liang Qichao, who wrote a number of great works here in the town, for example the Approach of the Chinese History Study, , and Cao Yu, the writer of classic drama Lei Yu, who spent his childhood and youth in the area.

Jintang Bridge

Jintang Bridge is the only bridge in China that has an opening system of moving span. With a metal structure, the body and stairs of the bridge are made from thick glass.

The Yuan Residence

Located at the former Austro-Hungarian Empire style area, the Yuan Residence was home to the first president of the Republic of China, Yuan Shikai. It is also now the only building along Haihe River where people can experience the best river view.

Ancient Culture Street

Located at the three-river junction, Ancient Culture Street is an old street with a history of more than 600 years in Tianjin. The 580-meter street is the center of ancient architecture clusters and the Tianhou Temple sits at the heart of it. Tianhou Temple, also called Niangniang Temple, is one of the three most famous Mazu temples around the world. Shops are located along the two sides of the street selling curios and antiques, calligraphy, paper-cut art, and Chinese traditional souvenirs. Visitors can also find Yangliuqing Spring Festival Paintings, brick carvings, Kite Wei, and Clay Figure Zhang, all Tianjin traditional fine art products, all available here in the street.

The Monastery of Deep Compassion

The Monastery of Deep Compassion is now the oldest and largest Buddhism monastery that adopts Shi Wan Cong Lin, a managing system of the monastery. The famous monk of Tang Dynasty Xuanzang’s relic once was preserved here in the Monastery of Deep Compassion.

Tianjin Eye

Tianjin Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on Yongle Bridge. The wheel is 110-meter in diameter and 120 meters in height or as high as a 35 floor building. It takes 30 minutes for the wheel to run a full circle. In good weather, the highest point provides tourists with a clear view of the city as far as 40 kilometers away. It is the only Ferris wheel on a bridge on this planet.

Tianjin North Train Station

Constructed in 1902, Tianjin North Train Station's platform, rooftop, or overpass remains intact after nearly 100 years. Therefore, it has been part of many films and television sets.

Shizilin Bridge

Shizilin Bridge is famous for its 1,181 stone lion statues.
