A forum on education policies in China-Central and Eastern European countries was held in North China’s Tianjin city from September 22 to 24.

The three-day event attracted a total of 160 people from China and 16 Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries, including education ministers, and presidents of universities.

They discussed a group of topics, such as different countries’ education reforms in the background of globalization, education and job market, and faculty’s rotation and students’ exchange activities.

In addition, they emphasized the improvement in communications and cooperation between China and CEE countries. They also confirmed the criteria and focuses of future cooperation.

The forum is a follow-up to the cooperation guidelines signed by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and 16 CEE leaders in Bucharest, Romania, in 2013.

Cao Xiaohong, deputy mayor of Tianjin, said that it is a precious opportunity for Tianjin’s education circle to learn from its counterparts in Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries.

She also hoped that all the guests could have a better understanding of the city and looked forward to more cooperation in the future.

Hao Ping, Chinese vice minister of education and Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao attended the forum.
